Where to appeal
Use the appeal option Snapchat shows when you try to log in, if there is one, or contact Snapchat Support through help.snapchat.com. Ignore anyone else offering to do it for you.
What to include
- Your username.
- The email address and phone number on the account.
- The date it happened and any support code shown.
- If relevant: that the phone was bought second-hand, or that you think you were hacked.
What to write
Keep it short and calm. Something like: “My account was locked on [date] and I believe this is a mistake. I haven’t used any unofficial apps. Please could you review it? My username is [name].” Change it to fit what really happened, and be honest.
What happens next
Snapchat says appeals are typically reviewed by a person and that you’ll be told the outcome. It also says repeated or unfounded appeals may be deprioritised, so send one and wait.
If it’s refused
You can keep your creativity going elsewhere.
Losing Snapchat usually means losing a habit: the quick wide selfie video, music on, posted every day. You can keep that habit going without Snapchat. Your iPhone’s own camera can widen the front view (iPhone 11 and later), and Music Wide Selfie is an iPhone camera built for exactly this: the widest front view your iPhone has, with your music still playing, saved straight to your Photos. Here’s how to keep filming.
