How to keep a video diary on your phone

Short answerPick a time of day, film one to three minutes talking about how you are and what happened, save it to a private album, and don’t edit. The value is in doing it regularly.

Why bother

A video diary captures your voice, face and mood in a way written notes don’t. Watching back months later can show how far you’ve come.

Make it a habit

  • Same time each day, such as after dinner.
  • Same spot, so setup is instant.
  • A prompt if you’re stuck: what was hard today, what was good, what’s next.

Keep it private

Put diary clips in a separate album. On iPhone, the Hidden album can be locked with Face ID (Settings › Photos). If you use iCloud Photos, your diary syncs there too, so protect your Apple Account with a strong password and two-factor authentication.

Don’t edit

Editing turns a diary into content. Leave it raw.
